Campaign Overview

Lynn and Foster Friess, inspired by the LeftRightLeftRightForwardMarch! initiative, have made a $1 million challenge grant to bring relief to the people of Moore. They are asking each state governor to use his or her position of prominence to raise $20,000 in private funds each.

If all 50 governors participate, the total will match Foster and Lynn’s gift, bringing $2 million to the tornado victims. Foster hopes this type of public-private cooperation among the 30 Republican and 20 Democratic governors will rally the private sector to provide solutions for the disaster victims without hurting already strained government budgets.

Extending his tradition as a kid whose mother yarned his socks and put a patch on his  blue jeans where his knees popped out, Foster negotiated with the National christian Foundation in Atlanta to receive donation and make distributions free of charge (excluding credit card charges). Similarly, the Salvation Army and the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City have agreed to absorb costs so 100% get to those who are currently hurting so badly.

Here is ABC News’ coverage of Foster and Lynn’s $1 million challenge grant.
