Celebrating Student Athletes Who Excel in Sports and Service

Hunter Kemper, Amanda Beard join the M Foundation and LRLRFM in honoring young athletes for excellence in service and leadership

The M Foundation’s mission is centered on two fundamental parts of the American psyche: youth and sports. Our nation always has a youthful, optimistic vision, and we are a country of competitors. The best athletes inspire the nation, especially our youth. And the M Foundation wants to ensure that young athletes who help those around them, instead of only living for themselves, are recognized, honored, and encouraged.

By recognizing high school athletes for exemplary service to those around them, the M Foundation seeks to inspire Americans to be good sports not only on the field but also everywhere else—to use their talents and abilities to live lives for others.

Through its annual M Awards, the Foundation gives scholarships to elite student athletes who have proven to be role models in their communities. And always promoting the idea of giving to others, the M Foundation makes a donation to the winners’ favorite charities. The M Foundation connects these young athletes with prominent role models, including Serena Williams, David Wright, Dwight Howard, and Mia Hamm.

We are pleased to announce that Olympic triathlete Hunter Kemper and seven-time Olympic swimming medalist Amanda Beard are partnering with LRLRFM and the M Foundation. Kemper and Beard encourage others who might not agree on politics to join together in support of the M Foundation’s goal of inspiring student athletes to excellence on and off the field. Whatever our differences in other arenas, Americans can agree on these truths: sports can teach great lessons, and accomplished athletes have a special opportunity and obligation to inspire others to do good.

The 2013 M Award presentation will be held Saturday, September 28th at CitiField prior to the 4:10pm Mets game.

If you’d like to encourage high school athletes who serve as inspiring role models in their communities, consider making a donation to the M Foundation along with a friend with whom you disagree politically. Charity by charity, project by project, we can do great things while bridging the gap between Left and Right. And the M Foundation—with its focus on young people and sports—is an excellent place to start.
